I want you to go to Think Central and under Real World Videos watch video 10 ” A Former Astronaut” and tell me what math skills you are learning that the astronaut might need to use.
A Astronauts need air to breath and survive in space also they need a rope to attach it to the space ship so they don’t fly off into space and you need a partner to help you outside the space ship.
I think that the astronaut needed to add up the miles he will need to go into space. Also how much space food will he need for the time he is in space. And how many days, weeks, months, and years he will be out there because then he will know if he needs a lot of something or a little of something.
They would need to use the kind of math that we are doing to check on enrgy. For example they need to know how many fractions of gas they can burn up and when they need to stop then start.
