It’s time to register for the March Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge.
If you are looking for ways to connect your classroom blog(s), directly or indirectly, with other classrooms, please consider registering for the March 2014 Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge. The Challenge is an exciting and authentic way to weave in digital/global citizenship skills and to build on students’ digital writing skills, part of the new Common Core State Standards.
Twice a school year (October and March), Edublogs sponsors the Student Blogging Challenge. The Challenge runs for 10 weeks, with weekly tasks designed to scaffold a variety of digital skills. Participating classrooms can complete all or as many tasks as they wish, and in any order.
October’s challenge included writing blog posts about the following:
- why did you join the challenge
- write a post on global issues
- favorite interests
- favorite holidays or countries to visit
- storytelling using images
- how to write a post that invites comments
- favorite blogs you visit
- Edublogger competition post
- what did you learn from other bloggers
- about a positive digital footprint
- a challenge post for the international student blog
Besides registering your own classroom(s) for the Challenge, teachers are warmly invited to sign up to mentor individual student bloggers. The Challenge offers a safe and secure (teacher monitored) way to take student voices to an authentic audience.
