Yes! You heard correctly! Ms. Yanez took the ALSĀ ice bucket challenge today at our spirit rally. With that, please know that I will use this opportunity and excitement to bring our standards to life. Your child will be involved in a writing project analyzing the ALS craze, along with a service learning project on the drought in order to enrich our science unit on slow changes to the Earth. I am looking forward to this next month of engaged learning. Feel free to share opinions with your child, have discussions, and even send in info you find related to these topics.
Hi MS. Yanez,
I am not really fond of the ALS challenge due to the severe drought. I did briefly touch on this last weekend with Owen. Since I am not in school I can try to do some research concerning the recent drought for the class. It’s been incredibly noticeable in our field work and in the Truckee/ Great Basin area.
I may try to put something together or just touch base with Owen on this subject. Please let me know what you prefer.
Good job with the Ice Bucket Challenge,
Tashia

I can interpret and possibly depending what you want make a map.
The tubular data should be easy to use. I will keep working on it.

It’s possible to recreate this map to a 4th grade map.

This is what I do for a living so finding the data takes no time at all for me. These are good websites and hopefully help with the drought portion. The kids will need help from there parents to interpret the papers and data. I can make a map conducive to a fourth grade level. This data can then be manipulated into a paper or what ever project concerning the ALS ice bucket challenge. Hopefully this helps parents and teachers who do not have a lot of time. I can keep working on it as well.
