Highlights Magazine and FREE Materials

Posted on

I have submitted the Highlights Magazine requests and hopefully your child will receive his/her first issue within the next month (if you chose to order). It’s such a fun and great way to get new reading material coming directly to your house for that 20 min of nightly reading!

Here is what our classroom earned just for everyone turning it in, whether it was a yes or no.

Pizza Fraction Game for Math

Tabletop Dry-Easel Board for Small Group Instruction

Craft Scissors for our art projects

They allow me to pick from a catalog and these are all items that will be beneficial to our classroom. Thanks again for taking the time to return that. 🙂

Huge Thanks for Donations!

First off, thank you to ALL the families for making sure your child is prepared and ready for school every day with their necessary materials. That is truly the best form of  support.

A special thanks to the following children and their familes for the class donations. All the “extras” are always appreciated!

Gabriela, Owen, Colten, Jazilyn, Jesse, and Vernon 🙂

Subs for Ms. Yanez

Posted on

Hello everyone! You may or may not be aware that I was out for the last 2 days, so my apologies if you are awaiting my response for something. Please know that I am on a leadership committee for BCM that meets monthly during the school day, and also in a math cohort that requires me to meet 5 times a year during the school day. Let me reassure you that your child will be under the instruction of a consistent substitute with a well planned day.I definitely do not like being away from my students, but the time away is a benefit for your child as we increase the rigor to align our curriculum and teaching practices with the common core standards. I will do my best to update this on the blog under important dates so that you know when I am out.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Posted on

Yes! You heard correctly! Ms. Yanez took the ALS ice bucket challenge today at our spirit rally. With that, please know that I will use this opportunity and excitement to bring our standards to life. Your child will be involved in a writing project analyzing the ALS craze, along with a service learning project on the drought in order to enrich our science unit on slow changes to the Earth. I am looking forward to this next month of engaged learning. Feel free to share opinions with your child, have discussions, and even send in info you find related to these topics.
