Reading Logs

Posted on

Reading logs are assigned nightly. Students are to write a summary of what they read during the 20 assigned minutes. These are due every 2 weeks and part of their ELA grade. Parent signatures should be on every log so that I know you held your child accountable for their reading and writing time.  Our first one was due and I am saddened at how many students did NOT turn one in. 🙁

Huge thanks to…Eduardo, Ashley, Dayanara, Sarah, Jacqueline, Kevin, AB, Ashneet, and Anaih. Way to go guys – you are keeping that ELA grade up!

Math Re-Do’s

Posted on

Students are receiving their Ch 2 Multiple Choice Math Test today. Parents, please review this and sign it before returning it. If a student received an A or a B, re-do’s are optional. Any student receiving a C, D, or F, is expected to re-do the problems they missed and explain why they missed it. They should not just say they marked the wrong answer. It should say something like they forgot to regroup, they subtracted wrong in the tens place, etc.. Please help your child with this at home as they most likely need the extra support. This is an opportunity for students to LEARN from their mistakes and also to earn back partial credit to help boost their grade. All tests are due on or before Friday, September 21st.

Highlights

Wow! We had NINE students sign up for the Highlights Magazine! That tells me I have lots of eager students ready to read and boost that fluency. You should here from Highlights within the next month. Thanks to Ms. Posas for helping me get it organized to send in today. By placing this order, our class earned bonus prizes. We earned extra magnets to post work, buzzers to play review games with, scratcher rewards, and a colorful flex ruler for everyone who signed up for the magazine. Thanks to everyone for sending those forms back.

Thank you so much for the generous donations to kick-off our school year!

Navdeep, Eder, Sarah, Darius, Dayana, Bishop, and Ashneet – we truly appreciate it!

If you are still looking to contribute, tissue is always a need, especially as we approach the cold season.

Thanks also to all parents for purchasing the items your child needed to be prepared to learn this school year!
