Following Japan’s bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, putting into motion the removal of citizens of Japanese heritage from the West Coast. Virtually overnight, the lives of thousands of citizens – and the communities from which they were taken – were forever changed. The resources below provide a window into the internment/incarceration experience as well as the post-war experience. The resources also stand as a tribute to the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity and hardships.
