Have you ever felt a hurting feeling when you lose something you love? Lots of readers felt it such as in the three books Sounder, Old Yeller, and Where The Red Fern Grows. All these pieces of literature have one thing in common; It is that they all included a male character and something he loved. In Sounder the boy lost his dog when it got shot. Then it came back and he lost something even worse and it was his dad. He suffered a lot as he was a boy. In the book Old Yeller a boy and his family went throw an experience that they would never forget. He lost his dog when it caught rabies. His dog was a stray at first. Then they adopted him. He saved the entire family from all the danger they faced. He caught rabies when he faced a mad wolf. He had to shoot. The rabies spread to him and he had gone mad. He had no chose but to shoot him. He lost him but he will never forget him. In Where The Red Fern Grows a boy named Billy had two pups. He took very good care of them. They proved to be the best hunting dogs in the country. One night the dog named Old Dan fought a lion to protect him and his best friend Little Ann. Then Old Dan did not survive it. Little Ann died by a broken heart. Billy dug graves for them. He never wanted a dog after that happened. Then a big miracle happened and it was a red fern that grew in the middle of there graves. His family moved to the city and never returned there. If you ever felt a feeling like these characters ever felt in than remember something. If you did than remember that even if you are far apart love will still live in your heart and in theirs.
