Welcome to the EGUSD Digital Citizenship Website

The Elk Grove Unified School District’s Digital Citizenship Initiative is an on-going project and commitment. As new technology applications and tools are created, the district expands the curriculum and trainings accordingly. Currently, the district provides digital citizenship curriculum for grades K-12, professional development workshops for staff, and resources for parents.

All EGUSD schools teach digital citizenship and are in compliance with current legal mandates, such as the federal E-Rate/CIPA requirements.

As students step up and out onto the Internet, the district wants to ensure that they understand the need to think before they post – to treat others with respect, to build and maintain a positive digital footprint, to protect their online privacy and the privacy of others, and to respect intellectual property boundaries.

Social Media 101

Social Media 101

Social media is any online gathering place which allows people to share ideas, information, photos and videos. Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Kik… as soon as you learn about one social media site, another one pops up and is the latest and greatest way for your kids to stay connected with their friends. As overwhelming as it seems, familiarizing yourself with the sites and apps out there will help you to better understand what your children are doing and will help you understand privacy policies to keep them safe – while still allowing them to have fun and interact with their friends.
Follow along below as we post/blog about digital citizenship topics and trends, post resources for students, parents and the community and provide training opportunities and resources for EGUSD digital citizenship site coordinators and other district staff. If there is a topic you would like to see covered, please reach out via email and we will do our best to create and share new content with our EGUSD digital citizenship community.
