Class Update

Chapter 6 math test will be on Thursday.
I am grateful to have such amazing children to teach everyday. I am a very lucky lady. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Class Up Date

The Save Around coupon books have been passed out to students that would like to sell them. A notice went home to everyone in the class. Keep in mind each coupon book sells for $25. $12.50 of the sale goes directly to your child’s Alliance trip. At this time only 13 students have elected to sell the books.
We are taking a break from Wonders and will be reading a novel for the next few weeks

Thank you to all the families that donated to our APEX fundraiser.
If you have any empty egg cartons at home and have no need for them, we sure could use them in class. I use them for paint holders during art projects.
Chapter 2 Social studies test will be next week.
The Egyptian Artifacts on-site field trip should take place on Friday, although we may need to reschedule it for the next week.
I have sent home two notices requesting money for an Ancient Artifact presentation on Egypt and a not refundable $50 deposit for Alliance Redwoods. The money for Alliance Redwoods needs to be either cash or money order. I realize that this is not as convenient as a check but this helps resolve the issue of our school dealing with issues of bounced checks (which happens more than you would think). I will be sending home receipts for your records after I have received money for Alliance Redwoods.

Report Cards have been sent home. Keep in mind that the Listening and Speaking grade is not part of your child’s GPA this year.
We are back to school on October 28th.
Have a nice break. Decompress with your children for the next few weeks. They are amazing!

We will be back using Wonders for our reading curriculum next week.
Reading Where the Red Fern Grows was as sad as I remember it being when I was in 6th grade.

Tomorrow is a minimum day.
The chapter 3 math test is on Wednesday.
The chapter 3 science test is on Tuesday. It will be an open book test.
If possible, please send your student with a yellow, a pink and a blue highlighter to school next week. We need them for Cornell Note taking. We will be using these all year.

I sent home a notice last week requesting a $2 donation and a white T-Shirt for the 6th grade Tie-Dye activity. Mr. Lynn will be doing this with our class on Thursday. Students are encouraged to wear these shirts on spirit days and on our trip to Alliance Redwoods. Most students brought in what they needed today but a several have not. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this activity. They will be doing the tie-dying on Thursday.
