Secret War – EGUSD Curriculum Planning Workshop

Please Join Us!

Elk Grove Unified teachers (Grades 5-12) are invited to attend our Secret War in Laos Curriculum Planning Workshop.

June 10, 2016  | 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  |  Franklin Community Library
Register online through ERO  – Session Registration # 1607006002

This full day opportunity offers teachers the chance to build their own content knowledge about the Secret War in Laos, while creating resources that can be used not only by teachers in EGUSD but teachers, professors and historians throughout the country.  Working with a partner, you will review first-hand accounts of Hmong and Mien people who were personally affected by the Secret War in Laos, many of them members of the Elk Grove  and surrounding communities.  Your task will be to review oral interviews and identify video clips that can be used in the classroom and connected to current curriculum. There will be an additional optional workshop on June 15, 2016, to create lessons to be showcased on the EGUSD TOR Website.
