October * Chapter 3

“Come on Anthem don’t use your powers,” Anthem kept telling herself. Anthem, Mrs. Masculine, and Aristole all had secret powers. Anthem could control things with her mind, Mrs. Masculine had the power to time travel, and Aristole had the power to control weather. Nobody knew about their powers except for them. Soon, the room went black and Anthem felt like she was falling. “Mrs. Masculine help!” she shouted, but nobody heard her. She finally fell and hit a hard but smooth surface. Then, instead the room switched to all white. From the inside the room looked like a very small box. Anthem opened her eyes and got up from the floor. “Where in the world am I?”

“No need to know,” responded a mysterious voice.

“Psh I’m just dreaming I’ll wake up soon,” said Anthem.

“Pinch yourself and see,” said the voice. Anthem listened to the voice and pinched herself.

“Ouch, wait a minute this is real!” shouted Anthem. “Who are you, show yourself!”

“I’m good with that,” said the voice. “All you have to do is close your eyes.” Anthem slowly closed her eyes. “Good, now open them.” When Anthem opened her eyes she saw Lavender in front of her.

“You’re finally here!” rejoiced Anthem. Lavender was strapped to a creaky old wooden chair. She also had a straight face and was staring off into the distance. “Why are you all strapped up?”

“Leave now, you better leave,” stated Lavender.

“No you have to come back home,” commanded Anthem. “We all need you.”

“For money, don’t act like you need me you disgusting fake friend,” fumed Lavender. Anthem’s eyes lit up. She couldn’t believe Lavender’s words. A teardrop fell down her face.

“I’ll give you some time,” sobbed Anthem.

“Where are you, I can help this situation,” insisted the voice. “You can call me The Spark.”

“How are you supposed to help me!” exclaimed Anthem with a sobby voice. “I can’t even see you!”

“I’m more powerful than you think I am,” said The Spark. “I can send Lavender to you because I have control of her.”

“Hold on really?” asked Anthem.

“Yes I can do a lot of things,” said The Spark. “I can even give you power, but when I do I lose power.” “So if you need power there’s a price and the price is expensive.”

“How much?” Anthem asked. “Pfft probably not expensive for me.”

“Ya, that’s what they all say,” giggled The Spark. “Four million dollars.”

“What that’s such a high price!” exclaimed Anthem. “How is a teen like me supposed to pay that much!”

“You said it’s probably not expensive for you,” said The Spark. “I promise it will be worth it.”

“It sure better be,” grunted Anthem. “Or else I will destr-.” Anthem got interrupted by a tap on her shoulder.”

“We’re here,” said a voice. Anthem turned around and everything went back to normal. She was sitting on her bed. She noticed Aristole standing in front of her, Tarver and Damien. Damien had dirty blonde hair with blue eyes. He wore a red puffer vest with a regular white shirt. Tarver had dark skin with soft curly hair and brown eyes. He just wore a sweater with jeans. Aristole had her hair in two french braids. She also had blue eyes. Anthem was so confused about what just happened.

“Why were you talking to yourself?” asked Tarver. “Something about dollars and it better be.”

“And you’re shivering, it’s not cold at all in here,” said Damien. Aristole touched Anthem’s forehead.

“Oh my gosh you’re freezing!” Aristole said as she panicked.

“I’ll go get a blanket!” shouted Tarver running out the room.

“I’ll go make some warm tea,” Damien said.

“Lay down, I’m going to go get Mrs. Masculine,” said Aristole.

“No stop don’t get her!” begged Anthem. “It was just my powers, but she told me not to use them.” “But I went against her word.”
