Elk Grove High School Academy / Pathway Programs
Automotive Technology Pathway — The Elk Grove High School Automotive Technology Pathway provides students with the essential skills required to secure an entry-level position with the automotive field and/or foundational knowledge necessary to transition into a post-secondary program in automotive technology. Students gain hands-on experience by working with professional automotive equipment and diagnostic tools, learning about industry standard safety rules, service information, career strategies and the importance of job performance. Topics covered include engine operation, electrical systems, fuel injection, computer systems, brake and basic engine repair. The Automotive Technology Pathway is articulated with Cosumnes River College’s Automotive Program, which allows students to earn post-secondary credit while enrolled in this high school pathway.

Leading Youth for Tomorrow’s Educators (LYFTE) — The Leading Youth for Tomorrow’s Educators (LYFTE) Pathway at Elk Grove High School is designed for students with a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Students will explore careers in education, visit college campuses, serve in elementary and middle schools, develop leadership skills and prepare for both college and career. The Education Pathway also provides support and opportunities for students, including membership in the Future Educators of America. Students completing the Careers in Education Pathway are well on their way to rewarding careers in education.

Culinary Arts Pathway —The Culinary Arts Pathway for EGHS consists of three classes: Work Readiness and Careers (Introductory), Introduction to Culinary Arts and World Cuisines (Concentrator) and Advanced Culinary Arts (Capstone). Students in this pathway learn foundational culinary skills and explore international food culture and equipment. The pathway also focuses on career exploration and provides additional exposure to industry professionals.
Graduates will be highly proficient or knowledgeable in the following: Knife Skills, Safety & Sanitation, Food Preparation Information and Skills and Industry/Workplace expectations. Additionally, students will explore the creative and artistic aspects of food creation and presentation.

Sustainable Agriculture & Green Education Academy (SAGE) — The Elk Grove Sustainable Agriculture and Green Education (SAGE) Academy prepares students for the 21st-century agricultural industry and combines both physical and life sciences. Students learn about the sciences and technologies necessary to understand sustainability and to produce food and fiber in a sustainable and energy-efficient manner. The academic core of the academy also includes English and Social Science along with an agricultural elective in one of the following pathways: Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Mechanics, Floral Design and Animal Science. Students are exposed to a variety of agriculture and agricultural business careers through their work in the academy. An extensive leadership component is taught as a part of the academy curriculum. Students are required to participate in Supervised Agricultural Experience projects through Future Farms of America (FFA) and have the opportunity to earn articulated college units.

Technology & Digital Arts (TDA) Academy —
• The Technology and Digital Arts Academy (TDA) provides students with two distinct career technical education paths: Computer Graphics and Digital Photography. These pathways prepare students for careers in the media industry, freelance photography industry or graphic arts industry.
• In the Academy, the students have the opportunity to pursue and be exposed to a variety of disciplines including computer graphics, graphic design, digital photo, digital filmmaking, media arts, photography and digital photo illustration as well as the solid core high school classes.
• The Computer Graphics program will provide an in-depth view into the multi-media design field. Students receive a broad overview of computer software programs through an exciting range of courses starting in their freshman year. Students gain practical knowledge in creating logos, posters, packaging design, multimedia presentations, magazine layout and infographics. In their junior and senior year, students expand their knowledge by taking two college credit courses through Sacramento City College offered at Elk Grove High School.
• The Digital Photography program prepares students for a variety of opportunities in the ever-changing digital world. Students receive a broad overview of computer software programs through an exciting range of courses starting in their freshman year. Students gain practical knowledge in composition, subject treatment, interaction of light and shadow, photojournalism, creativity, image editing software and output. It also introduces the aesthetic and technical theories and techniques of photography. In their junior and senior year, students expand their knowledge by taking two college credit courses through Sacramento State University offered at Elk Grove High School.
