Music in our Classroom

Jackson Nelson’s mom, Ms. Tera, came back to visit our class to continue to help the kids discover music through play! Here some of the fun things they did:

  • They learned more solfeggio words and hand signs for Mi-Re-Do and Sol-Sol-Do. This cadence pattern was hidden in some of the songs she sang with them – Let’s Play Music, Hickety Pickety, Echo Ed, 5 Fat Turkeys, Circle Left, and Let’s Say Goodbye.
  • They learned so fun animal beats to the Barnyard Boogie. Ask them to clap the sounds of the animals: Cow (Moo-Moo), Duck (Quack-y, Quack-y, Quack, Quack), Pig (Oin-ky Oink, Oin-ky Oink), and the Sheep (Baa-baa-ba-ba-ba).
  • They learned 3 Primary Chords that make up most of our music. Also, that each of those chords are made up of 3 parts like our triangles have 3 points – Red (Do-Mi-Sol), Blue (Do-Fa-La), and Yellow (Ti-Re-Sol).
  • They did some classical music listening too through a puppet show! Ms. Tera gave each one of your children their own page of puppets to color and perform for you. Here’s a link to the music – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwgOWDUlDgY
Music is a lot fun, especially when you can learn all these great musical concepts through play!
Thank you, Ms. Tera!  We always enjoy having you in our classroom for music!!

Friendship Feast!

Happy Thanksgiving Spartan Families!

Just a few reminders coming your way…

Tomorrow is our Friendship Feast in K3!  As we are having wonderful things being brought in for us, your child will not need to bring in a snack for school.  Both classes are a little shy on cultural dishes so if you could bring in something (peanut free) please bring it in.  We will need 24 scoops or spoonfuls for everyone to try a bite.  Thanks again for all you do for us!

On Friday, November 21st, we have a kindergarten minimum day.  ALL KINDERS have school from 8:20-11:50.  Please make any necessary arrangements for the change of times for P.M. students.  If you received an invitation to our awards assembly on Friday, we will meet in the library from 8:30-9:00 a.m.

**If your child has already purchased a ticket for the movie, How to Train a Dragon, please be sure to pick them up with the rest of the class at 11:50.  You will need to come back with them for the movie at 12:30.**

Next week is Thanksgiving Break so we look forward to seeing everyone back in class on Monday, December 1st.

We hope all of you have a wonderful, restful, and healthy Thanksgiving week filled with family, friends, and great merry making!
