Thank You, Ms. Tera!

Jackson Nelson’s mom, Ms. Tera, visited our class during the overlap and helped the kids discover music through play! Here some of the fun things they did:

  • They learned solfeggio words and hand signs for Mi-Re-Do. This cadence pattern was hidden in some of the songs she sang with them – Let’s Play Music, Three Blind Mice, Circle Left, and Let’s Say Goodbye.
  • They learned to keep a steady beat. They made their feet match the beat of a tambourine. Also, they echoed fun beats with her puppet Echo Ed.
  • They channelled their voices, placing the tone up in their head and forward with their noses, by singing along to a fun halloween song. (Have them sing the Oooo Halloween song ~ they might just have a scary suprise at the end!)
  • They did some classical music listening too through a puppet show! Ms. Tera gave each one of your children their own page of puppets to color and perform for you.  They will be in Monday’s homework folders.  Here’s a link to the music – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCCLiuOQF88

Music is a lot fun, especially when you can learn all these great musical concepts through play!  Thank you, Ms. Tera, for sharing your music with us!  We look forward to having you be our guest again!

1st Grade Physical

Good morning Spartan Families!
In the Wednesday Folder, that was sent home yesterday, you probably saw the paperwork for the 1st grade physical.  It was sent home so you would have it to take to your child’s doctor the next time you have an appointment.  Before entering 1st grade this sheet needs to be filled out by a doctor.  You may have noticed it states the due date is today.  Please ignore this.  The paperwork is due before your child goes to 1st grade.

Unity Carnival Planning Meeting

The last Unity Carnival planning meeting is tomorrow, September 25, in the school library from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  It’s not too late to come and see how you can help be a part of this fantastic fundraiser for our school.  If you are not able to attend but still want to help please go to www.sunrisepfo.org and volunteer through their new website.  It’s a good way to meet great people that make great things happen for our students here at Sunrise Elementary.
Remember if you want to pre-order carnival tickets the money and envelopes are due Friday, September 26.  This is a great way to not stand in a long line waiting to buy carnival tickets.  This is a big event!  Please come and bring lots of friends and family.  Our Sunrise PFO does a great job and it’s good, clean family fun!

Lego Carnival Basket!

We just received our first Lego Carnival Basket item!  Remember classes create themed baskets to be raffled off at the Unity Carnival, October 3rd (the day D track tracks off).  We are off to a good start but we need your help.  We have 2 parents that have offered to help organize the donations, please read the note below…

Hi Families of Mrs. Arriaga’s and Mrs. Young’s classes,

We thought we would help out our teachers by keeping track of donated items for the Lego Basket and then assembling the basket once items are donated.

We will check for donations daily and will send out an updated list on items already purchased to help cut down on duplicates.

Donation Ideas:

Lego Sets

Lego Coloring/sticker/reading books

Gift cards to Lego store

Lego Storage container

Lego T-shirt

Lego Board Games

Lego Watches

Lego Back pack

Lego Cups

And the Lego list goes on……..

If you would like to give a monetary donation instead of a Lego item, we can do the purchasing for you.

Let’s make this basket the most desirable one there!!
