The title may seem like unoriginal, but I was assigned to write a jumbled-up fairy tale. We had to pick random characters, themes, settings, and titles. The story had to be relevant to the title as well. So enjoy my jumbled-up fairy tale!
Once upon a time, there were three beautiful daughters who were deemed perfect by all those who saw them. However, they bickered and fought between themselves, preferring to be alone with herself.
But one day, a cruel and evil queen who was tired of their constant arguments locked them together inside of a small castle which was near the dark and foreboding woods. Next to the castle was a little pond where wild rapunzel grew.
The girls were trapped in the highest turret. The three sisters had nothing to eat but a basket of dried up carrots. The only other items in the room were three pathetic cots with moth-eaten sheets. There was also a minuscule ledge that jutted out of the tower wall like a meager shelf.
They were devastated to the point that they forgot their differences. A withered rapunzel plant below pitied the girls predicament.
“Hold onto your grudges and you will fail. Work together to escape your jail.” the decrepit plant whispered to the bitter wind. Swirling impatiently, it whispered to imprisoned sisters, “Hold onto grudges and you’ll fail. Use teamwork to escape your jail.”
The sisters pondered ways to escape and came up with a plan. The first sister, who was good at weaving, would braid a rope for them out of the sheets. The second sister, who was excellent at tying knots, would secure the basket to the makeshift rope. The third sister, who was very strong and brave, would lower her sisters to the ground. Her other two siblings would then find a way to free her, too.
But, they were exhausted from thinking about their options that day, so they drifted off to sleep in anticipation for the next day. Early in day, the girls awoke to a windy yet sunny day. They began preparing with no hesitation. In the next hour, they were ready. The first sister climbed cautiously into the carrot basket. The strong sister lowered her carefully to the ground.
She leaped out joyously and yelled, “Come down, my kin, to feel the grass.” With that, the second sister soon joined her. The last daughter tied the rope to the small shelf in the tower and climbed downwards.
After that, the three sisters were so overjoyed to be free that they led successful lives and married into wealthy families. The trio were so thankful for the ancient rapunzel plant’s help that they rewarded it with clean, fresh water and fertile soil.
The End…
Dear Zoe,
What a magical fairy tale. I love how you make the girls do teamwork and get themselves out of the jail. I also love how you make the plant whisper and rhyme. Where did you get the idea? Answer me on: blogs.egusd.net/hali18/
