Welcome

Welcome to the Zehnder Ranch 2021-22 school year.

My name is Dr. Anderson, and I am the Computer Resource Teacher here at Zehnder Ranch Elementary. I am a product of the Elk Grove Unified School District. I attended Samuel Kennedy Elementary, James Rutter Middle School, Valley High School, and I was a member of the 1st graduating class of Florin High School. I graduated from CSU Sacramento with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. My teaching credentials and Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching with a Specialization in Educational Technologies was earned at National University, Sacramento. My Doctorate of Educational Leadership K-12 was completed at Argsosy University, San Francisco/Bay Area. 2021-22 is my 21st year of teaching in Elk Grove. I am very excited to be a member of the Zehnder Ranch community.

It is imperative that your child turn in the Technology Use Form. You should receive this from your child’s teacher. Please be sure to read and sign this form as soon as possible and turn it into your child’s teacher. Your child will not be able to access to the Internet at school until this form is signed by both parent and student and submitted.

About the computer lab…

Internet resources are used extensively.  We will use Google Classroom, an educational platform that integrates seamlessly with Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, etc. allowing teachers to easily assign, collect, and grade digital assignments.  I will use this resource extensively with grades 2-6. (I will start to bring 1st grade into it later in the year. Depending on readiness, Kindergarten will likely also be exposed to this resource later in the year).

Grading guidelines…
Students will earn a (+) for each trimester in which they meet grade level standards for typing (grades 3-6 only) and perform assigned tasks adequately (activities/mini-lessons/projects). A grade of (√) indicates that the student is approaching grade level but has not yet mastered all standards for that grade level.

Students are expected to listen, show effort, progress steadily, understand the concepts presented, and produce quality work in class.  Lack of effort or quality in their work, being disruptive, or a regular inability to complete assigned tasks may result in a minus instead of a (√) or a (+).

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at jeaander@egusd.net  I’m looking forward to a great year in the computer lab with your child!
