“Hmong Story 40 is a joint effort from many people from throughout the state of California. It represents a collaborative that shares a common vision. This exhibition will provide a rare and intimate opportunity to connect with the Hmong people. From the past to the present, Hmong Story 40 will construct a different narrative that is still absent within the Hmong community and the general public at large.”
2015 marks 40 years since the Hmong people fled from Laos to Thailand, eventually migrating to the United States. To commemorate this special anniversary, California State University Fresno will host an exhibition in Sacramento, CA, in the spring of 2015, showcasing photographs, stories, fine art, and artifacts of the Hmong experience. To prepare for the spring 2015 exhibition, CSUF is calling for contributors.
On Saturday, October 25, 2014, the University will be hosting a Community Engagement Exhibit Preview Photo and Artifacts Drive from 1 -4:30 p.m. in the CSUF library, where you can learn about Hmong history by meeting exhibit team members and previewing exhibit elements. You can be a part of history by bringing your refugee photos and artifacts to the event. Take a road trip to Fresno, CA and help build the 2015 exhibit by sharing your story.
