Attached you will find flyers for our upcoming Parent Trainings hosted by the Youth Development Office

Thursday, May 12th and Tuesday, May 17th

“Youth & Vaping: What Parents Need to Know”.

These trainings will be held via zoom and are open to all EGUSD K-12 families.

Parents/Families will learn:
– what the new vaping devices look like

-what research says about the risks of youth vaping
-how vaping devices are also used with marijuana

-how to talk to their child about vaping
-what prevention resources are available for parents.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day – Nov. 17

Elk Grove Unified proudly recognizes Wednesday, November 17 as “Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.” Ruby Bridges is an American activist who walked to school nearly every day and became a symbol of the civil rights movement at age six when she was the youngest of a group of African American students designated to integrate schools in the American South. Ruby Bridges stood for equality and desegregation in the early 1960s, and the Ruby Bridges Foundation promotes “the values of tolerance, respect, and appreciation of all differences.”

EGUSD believes in engaging student voices in partnering for an education environment that emphasizes inclusion, diversity, validation and equity. In honor of Ruby Bridges Day, we encourage you to tag @ElkGroveUnified in your photos/videos along with #RubyBridges to show us how your school celebrates the values Ruby Bridges stands for.
