ELK GROVE, Calif. – February 15, 2022 – The Elk Grove Unified School District is in full operation and focused on the goal of keeping all District schools open with in-person learning and in maintaining the provision of independent learning options. District officials and school administration teams continue to work together to grow the number of activities that can be safely offered given current conditions and the team has already started the planning process for its graduation ceremonies.
While statewide positivity rates have significantly declined, the COVID-19 positive case rate reported within EGUSD schools remains to be of concern. As of February 15, 2022, the District’s COVID-19 dashboard shows a 7-day average case rate of 69.25. Staffing shortages persist and classroom and bus route coverage is carefully being monitored on a daily basis. In early January, the District asked that all available District personnel with teaching credentials stand ready to substitute in an effort to keep students in class and learning and to prevent schools from closure.
Elk Grove Unified schools will continue to adhere to its COVID-19 mitigation strategies that include the option to mask when outdoors and requiring masking when in-doors, per the state’s requirements. The District takes student and staff safety seriously and will work with its administration teams to maintain a safe and undisrupted learning environment. The District has issued an update to all families related to the state’s announcement regarding mitigation strategies in schools remaining unchanged.
