Twenty-Five School Sites to Provide Meals from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

ELK GROVE, Calif. – May 29, 2020 – With the official conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year, the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) will begin its Summer Meals Program for students during the summer break. The Department of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will offer a drive-through and grab-n-go meal service for more families and their children at 25 school sites from June 1 – 26, 2020. Food & Nutrition Services will continue to provide a mobile meal service in a few select areas. Communication about the mobile service will be sent directly to families in those areas.

All EGUSD meal services will be available for any child, 18 years and younger, regardless of free or reduced eligibility or school of attendance. Children must be present for service unless parents/guardians have received the proper validation. Validation received during the regular school year service will continue to be honored. To receive a validation form, parents/guardians must bring children on initial visit to the school for service. Food service staff will account for children present and provide the family with a validation form. With proper validation, parents may pick up meals without children present. Meals will be served between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Parents do not need to be present in order for children to receive meals. The meals provided each day will include lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. The drive through meal service will be present in the parking lot or bus lane at each school site listed below.

Meals are not for consumption on site, and children should return to their residence once the meals are received. When waiting for meals please practice six feet social distancing. This expanded program will continue until further notice, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
