Seventeen EGUSD Schools Submitted Over 145 Video Projects in Competitive Regional Competition

ELK GROVE, Calif. – April 24, 2020 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) applauds four of its schools that received a total of 10 awards at the 2020 Student Educational Video Awards (SEVA). Organized by the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium (SECC), the annual awards ceremony was held on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

In a competitive field, of the nearly 500 submissions to this year’s SEVA Awards from 10 Sacramento County school districts, seventeen EGUSD schools submitted more than 145 video projects. Elk Grove Unified schools received five SEVA Awards – the most in this year’s contest – and five receiving Honorable Mentions.

Additionally, Sunrise Elementary’s Trevor Harding was named this year’s recipient of the SECC’s 2020 Allan Hinderstein Award for his use of filmmaking in the classroom. Humbled by the regional recognition, Mr. Harding said, “”I am extremely proud to receive this award. The media program at Sunrise Elementary School has grown into a great educational outlet for our students. I’d like to share this award and celebrate with all of my media students at SPARTAN TV. Thank you to the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium for their commitment and support to our students.”

Originally scheduled as an evening celebration at Sacramento State University’s University Union Ballroom, the event was moved online to celebrate the talents and visions of student video producers.
