Math Videos are here!

Our class is trying out a new way of teaching/learning math: we learn the lesson at home, and do “homework” at school. This is a teaching model called a “flipped” classroom. Students watch videos on YouTube at home that contain the lesson for the next day. Then, at school, students do practice problems and projects related to the video lessons. Mr. Ohama then teaches short skill or concept lessons that will support the next video lesson. This model gives the teacher more time to work with students and students more time to work with each other.

You can watch the videos online by visiting Mr. Ohama’s Channel on YouTube, or you can click below to see a sample of the video lessons.

Lesson 7-2: Prime Factorization
Lesson 7-3: Greatest Common Factor
Lesson 7-8: Fractions in Simplest Form
Lesson 7:4: Common Multiples and Least Common Multiple (LCM)
Lesson 7-7: Equivalent Fractions

  1. I like how things are doing with watching math on yutubee. It’s easy for me to listen to every word you (Mr.ohama) say.

  2. The math videos are going well for me because I can now watch the videos over and over again so when I don’t understand something, in the end of the video I can just rewind it to the spot of the video that I did not understand. Another reason why the math videos are going well for me is because when I am donig the math exercises and Mr.Ohama is going to fast I can just pause the video and write down what I need to write without getting left behing in the learning. The last reason why the math videos are working out for me is because whenever we are on a different lesson in class and I still don’t understand the previous one we learned I can simply just go to youtube and rewatch the video whenever I have the time to watch it, and in the end get all of the learning I need to improve on my math in all lessons.

  3. The “flipped” classroom technique is working out great for me! The math videos are a great way for me to learn my math because if I don’t understand something I can just go back to the video and get extra practice for me. I also am enjoying the videos because I can learn more of the math in the comfort of my own home. The math videos posted by my teacher, Mr. Ohama, on YouTube help me because if I have trouble remembering the lessons we learn in class I can just refer back to the videos to get a reminder on how to do lessons from the previous week or any other time. In my opinion, the videos have had a positive effect on our class in the area of math because I think people in my class are having less problems and understanding the math better.

  4. I think that the videos are good ideas beacause it teaches me more when I need more need help on the math it shows me how.

    THANK YOU MR.OHAMA

  5. I really like how the videos are on youtube because every time I go watch the videos my mom wants to watch it to learn the math. I like the math because the math reminds me of improper and proper fractions. I like the math because every time I am bored I always want to do the math.

  6. The math videos are really working for me. This is a really good idea. One thing that confuses me about the math videos is that what if you have a question but mr.ohama isn’t there to answer it. Let’s say your at home alone and doing homework. You have a question . What should we do? Other than this the math videos are really good.

  7. Thank you very much Mr.Ohama for posting the math videos on Youtube. I think they have helped me improve in math so much! Instead of being confused and giving up and then trying again a few minutes later, I just watch the video again and then I know what to do automatically.

  8. I think that the way we do math is not a bad idea because I can go back when I need to, but if were not doing our lessons on youtube then it would be hard to keep track.

You can see Mr.Ohama’s videos on youtube it’s called Mr.Ohama math videos.

  9. I really like the math videos. I like the math videos because they teach me things I never heard before. For example, the LCM and more things I didnt know how to do it. I knew how to do it when my awesome teacher Mr. Ohama wrote math videos and did problems to help me understand more. This is why I like the math videos.

  10. I like the flip technque, because youtube videos are most resourceful, thank you (Mr.Ohama). You could do it at your own pace.

  11. The math videos are really good because you spend lots of time to teach us the math we need to know. The math videos are really good, and I wish you can make a part 2.

  12. I think the math videos are good because they taught me a lot of info on math.

    Gracias, Mr.Ohama
