The textbook defines matter as anything with mass and volume. If you were to describe matter to someone who doesn’t know what mass and volume are, what would you say matter is? What is your definition of matter?

  1. Matter is any thing that takes up space. A pair of scissors can be a type of matter, A doughnut can be a type of matter. A text book can be a type of matter. Any object can be a type of matter.

  2. Today, I’ve learned what’s matter. Anything that you can touch, see, hear, smell, and feel is matter. For example a box is made from matter because you can see it, touch it, and feel it.

  3. Matter is everthing that suurounds you. For example air is matter because you can feel it. If you can feel it, then it’s matter. Matter takes up space in the world. Air takes up space so you can breath. Most of water surrounds the world. Water is matter too. Mostly everything around you is matter.

  4. If I were to define the word “matter” to someone, my definition would be “Matter is something that takes up space in an object. Another definition of matter is “Matter is like a thing that you can touch.” For example, a pencil takes up space by probably wood or lead. That is my definition of Matter

  5. Everything is made out of matter. You are made out of matter, your dog is made out of matter, and so is your house. Matter has volume and mass. Volume is something that takes up space like a skyscraper. And mass is air that takes up space for example, oxygen would be known as mass. And together these two things form something called matter.

  6. Matter is a thing that you can touch, see, hear, taste, and also smell. For example, I can touch and see a pencil with my hand and eyes. Another example would be smelling, tasting, and seeing a hamburger. So matter is basicly something you can use your five senses to find out the thing is matter.

  7. If I had to explain what matter is to a little kid I would say it is what takes up space. For example, a mustang takes up space. It has things in it like , food or a purse. My defintion of matter is the space it takes. Like a cup of water has matter because the water takes up some space in the cup.

  8. Matter is something with mass (something you can touch) and volume (something that fills things up).

  9. I learned a lot about matter today in class. In my mind matter is anything that takes up an amount of space. For example, a computer, a pencil, clothing, etc. Most of the everyday things in a person’s life is matter except for a person’s feelings. Matter is something you can use your five senses to know that it is there. For example, air is matter becuase you can feel it if you blow on yourself. Since everything is matter, you are always around matter on Earth.

  10. Matter is something you could fell and touch. Also, my definition of matter is something that takes up space. For example, a computer, chocolate, phone, and chips is something you could feel and touch. An example of something that takes up space is air and people.

  11. Matter is something that has mass and volume. Most things that you see are made of matter. For example gasses, water and solids are made of matter. But, some things like emotions are not made of matter. That is because emotions are in your heart and it doesn’t have mass or volume.

  12. Matter is a thing that you can feel or touch. For example, a stapler. If you feel it is kinda heavy so as I said, matter is something you can feel or touch. There are also some things you can feel, but not see like wind and air.

  13. Matter is anything that takes up any space. For a example, if you have a box it has a lot of of space, but if you put a pencil in the box it has less space then it had before. Matter is also stuff you can feel. You can feel air so air is matter, because if a fan blows at you can’t you feel it. That is my definition of matter.

  14. Matter is something you can feel. The wind has matter because you can feel it. A book has matter because it’s heavy and you can feel it. Anything you can’t see or feel does not have matter and, anything that you can feel or see has matter.

  15. If I had to explain what matter is I would say that matter is all around you. The types of matter that could be around you are gas, liquids, and solids. For example, books, oxygen, and water.

  16. Matter is something you can see and touch. There is a lot of things that have matter for example a bike, or water, even air. There are also some things that doesn’t have matter for example sound, or love. There is a lot of matter all around you even when you can see it.

  17. Matter is the thing mass and volume. Mass is how heavy something is. Volume is how high and low. My definition of matter is that thing has mass and volume. Like a book and air.

  18. Today we learned about matter. Matter is everything surrounding you. Matter is also anything that takes up space. The earth is a mixture of gas, liquids, and solids. For example, a type of gas is air, a type of liquid is water, and a type of solid is a computer.

  19. Matter is either liquid, gas, or solid. Gas has atoms but not as much as a liquid. A gas has plenty atoms that move aruond a lot. A liquid also has atoms but a lot more than gas and a little less than a solid, but a liquid still has atoms that move around. A solid has a lot more atoms than gas or liquid because all of its atoms are all together.

  20. Matter is something that you can feel. A paper is matter because you can feel it. Even air is matter because when someone blows at you.You can feel it or when it is windy you can also feel it.

  21. The definition of matter to me is any thing that you could touch or feel. Also you don’t have to see matter. For example, the air.
