Activism Research
- I did research on Cesar Chavez. He was a civil rights activist, and was strongly promoted by theAmerican labor movement, which was eager to enroll Hispanic members. Chavez worked in the fields until 1952, when he became an organizer for the community service organization (CSO), a Latino civil rights group. Father Donald McDonnell who served in Santa Clara County introduced Fred Ross, a community organizer, to Cesar Chavez. Chavez urged Mexican Americans to register and vote, and he traveled throughout California and made speeches in support of worker’s rights. He later became CSO’s national director in 1958.
- I did my research on Grigoris Lambrakis. After World War II, Lambrakis completed his medical studies and worked as a lecturer in the Department of gynecology. He continued to help the poor by running a small private clinic for patients who were unable to afford medical care.
- I did my research on Harriet Tubman. She was a spy during the civil war. She escaped from 13 missions and helped out many people during that time. She later helped John Brown recruit men for his raid on Harpers Ferry, and in the post-war era struggled for women’s suffrage. In her later years, Tubman worked to promote the cause of women’s suffrage. A white woman once asked Tubman whether she believed women ought to have the vote, and received the reply: “I suffered enough to believe it.
- 5 causes of activism are internet activism, social activism, digital activism, cyber activism, and e-activism. They all have different traits. For example, social activism goes through the media and you can hear about it from news and other things like that. Online activism goes through the internet, such as facebook, twitter, etc. It spreads all over the place and that’s how people get the information. Digital activism is shown through digital photos or other things like that. Cyber activism is shown through like the community and all and it helps spread things out. E- Activism is also another way to show through different things and ways to help the people know what’s going on how it contributes to our lives.
