Do You Accept Late Work?

No. It is fifth grade policy not to accept late work from students. If the work is needed to complete additional assignments, students will stay in for recess to complete the work. This will be for no credit.

             What if I don’t put my name on my paper?

In fifth grade, no name papers are considered missing assignments. In addition, if a student does not put the complete heading at the top of their paper, points will be taken away from the final grade on the assignment.

             When will I get an update on  my child’s progress?

Every Monday (or Tuesday if there is a Monday holiday), I will send home a Weekly Wrap. The Weekly Wrap includes: information that is currently going on  in class, a weekly behavior update and a list of missing assignments. It will be sent home in your child’s shark folder. Monthly, you will also receive a list of missing assignments for the whole trimester. The bottom part of the form with the missing assignment  and behavior updat needs to be signed on Monday night and returned with the shark folder on Tuesday. 

       How many AR points does my student need?

AR counts toward 10% of your student’s reading grade. Students need 20-18 points for an A, 17-16 points for a B, 15-14 points for a C, and 13 points for a D.

When can I take an AR test?

Students can take AR tests during their recess time, computer time, after school, or during our designated AR time in class. Students may also take tests during quiet working time in class or workshop. Students are free to take an AR test during these times when the computer is free. During off-track time, AR tests can be taken in the office.
