Welcome back to school! As we start a new school year, the students decided on three basic agreements for our classroom:
- Be Kind
- Be Safe
- Be Productive
We have witnessed acts of kindness in our reading selections, “Mrs. Frisby and the Crow” and “Toto.” What did Mrs. Frisby do to help the crow? What did Suku and Toto do for each other? Mae Jemison, the first African American astronaut, worked with people in poor and underdeveloped countries. What are some other examples of kindness in your school or community?
Kindness is wonderful because you start to feel good about yourself.
I like being kind to others because when I am kind I like to see their faces when they smile.
The people at school are kind when they play with me.
Being kind helps you in life.
Being kind is being nice, helping, and being friends with someone. Mrs.Frisby helped the crow by getting the string off him. Toto and Suku were showing kindness by helping each other.
Kindness is all about sharing, caring, and helping each other.
kindness is about saying nice words to others.
kindness is about telling people they look nice and making them feel good.
Kindness is like a flower. It spreads and when someone picks it, the flower makes a person happy. In the story Mrs. Frisby and the Crow, Mrs. Frisby helped the crow by gnawing the string off the crow’s leg.
And the crow helped Mrs. Frisby by flying to her house. In the story Toto, the boy saved Toto’s life. And Toto saved the boy’s life from the lion.
If you want people to be kind to you, you have to be kind to them. If you’re kind you will get kindness back.
Kindness is about caring and helping your freinds.
Always help your friends and family.
You should help your friends when they are hurt.
I ate blackberries and dried meat for our Native American food sharing on Thursday. My class learned that they were hunters and gatherers in our Social Science text book. We also learned what the Native Americans ate. The Native Americans used natural resources like a weir to catch salmon and when the salmon came in season, the Native Americans gave the first salmon they caught to their leader.
The Indians use spears, arrows, and nets to catch salmon. They
ate meat like deer, elk, and fish to survive. We tasted blueberries and blackberries.
The Native Americans used weirs to catch salmon In the rivers. They also hunted for deer bear. Now I will tell you about the weapons they used to hunt. They used bows and arrows, spears, and weirs.
