Chaperones

Thank you to all who volunteered.  The Spartan of the Week drew names to determine the chaperones.   Mrs. Seymour and Mrs. Matos “won” the drawing.   We really appreciate all who were willing to donate a whole day to our adventure.

Progress Reports and Second Trimester

Calendar is a bit daunting this trimester.  Trying to finish content before and between holidays has been a challenge.  Your student’s last progress report for this trimester has been sent home today.  We have been working hard to get everyone up to at least half of the AR points for the trimester.  The bottom number under the points column on the AR sheet will tell you the points  your child needs to earn.  The letter grade indicates the comprehension grade for the tests taken thus far.   Please encourage your child to continue reading over the winter break.   As far as grades are concerned, grades for second trimester close on Jan. 16th, just two weeks after returning from holidays.  The first week back is never a high scoring week!  Please keep in mind that we will be taking unit and trimester end tests the second week back.  🙂   Our long break begins at 12:30 on Jan. 31st- Students return on  FRIDAY, MARCH 6.  Hope this helps with your planning.  Enjoy the holidays.

Potlatch

Teams of six are busy working on the entertainment for our Potlatch (gathering) on Friday.  Thank you for helping guide and lending your advice.  The four activities are varied.  We have magic tricks, a game, a short play, and a craft project.   The excitement is running high! The class is in need of newspaper for the project.  If you have some to donate please send it our way.

We will be finishing Chapter 8 in math prior to our two week break.  Test is on Friday.  Once that is out of the way, the real fun begins.  A reminder that Friday is Character Awards Assembly and pajama day.  Please keep in mind that it is supposed to pour that day, the liquid sunshine is great except when trying to get from the room to the multipurpose room!  I explained that Moms have the final say on whether or not pajamas are worn to school.  Please keep in mind that regular tennis shoes should be worn with the pajamas, undergarments should also be worn, and possibly a t shirt under the top just to stay warm.

I hope everyone enjoys the time with the family.  The children are SO excited.  Time flies, so take the time to soak it all in 🙂

Happy Holidays

Field trip

Thank you for getting all of the paperwork and money in on time.  Everything has been turned in and now we simply hope for clear skies!

I will let you know the outcome of our chaperone drawing by next Wednesday- we have 7 volunteers and only 2 slots.  (Remember you need to drive, pay $7 at the door, and no siblings- other than that, it truly is a great field trip!)

Maidu Field Trip

In your student’s homework binder is paperwork for the upcoming field trip in JANUARY.   In order to meet District deadlines for transportation and lunches, we had to send out paperwork early.  Our costs have been cut in half this year thanks to the PFO and all the fundraising.  We have enough money to cover the cost of bus transportation; and by going in January, we receive a $2  discount per student on our admission fees .  The total cost is only $7 per student.  Please fill out the forms and return by the deadline of Dec. 11th.  It’s a fabulous adventure.  The docents really help make this unit come alive for the students.  Please email or call me if you have any questions or concerns.
