Our Native American Project will continue over the next few weeks until the 25th of February.  Today  students are to work shelter for their tribe on their graphic organizer.  See sample, your child should have brought home their example of the Maidu Indians.

Monday February 9th and Monday February 16th are both holidays no school.

Since next week is a 4 day week and we are working on our project in class this week I am extending the story A New Coat for Anna through Wednesday of next week.  I told students on this week our spelling test would be on Friday instead of Thursday.  There will not be a spelling list next week.

Our Native American Project came home yesterday.  Today  students are to work on map of their  tribe and write the location information on their graphic organizer.  See sample, your child should have brought home their example of the Maidu Indians.  Students had the opportunity to get information on their tribe today during computers.

Monday February 9th and Monday February 16th are both holidays no school.

Our Native American Project came home today.  Today all I expect from the students is to figure out which tribe they wish to research and try and get information from the computer.  I had students write down a website that I found had good information.  It is not the only one they have to use.  Each night students will have part of the project to work on, after we have worked on an example in class.

Progress reports came home today, remember this is the halfway point of our trimester.  I know there will be concerns about the Social Studies grades, at this time I am not concerned we haven’t had many assignments.  Our Native American project will be coming home next week and we will have many more assignments to add to those grades over the next 6 weeks.

Field trip    February 12, 2015  the parents that will be attending the field trip are Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Casey.  Thank you so much to all of you who volunteered.

Minimum Day Friday, January 30th.

Students are preparing for a Science test on Friday, it will cover all of the water chapter we have completed.  I returned outlines and the foldable (that were turned in to me) for students to use to study.  It is The Water Lesson 1, The Ocean Lesson 2, and The Wetlands Lesson 3.  They also have some review work to do in the Science book.  We continued to review today in class.  Study for test tonight.

Science quiz on Wetlands tomorrow, they should have a foldable of notes, an outline,  and their Interactive text books, some may have also brought home their science book

Social Studies—we took a quiz two weeks ago, after everyone had finished I allowed them to get out their books and use their notes for 5 minutes to make any changes they wanted to make.  The majority of the class did not do well on the test, so  I gave the test again this time allowing them to use books and notes for the test.  Almost everyone improved their score.  Both grades will be going into the grade book as the computer will average them together for a grade.
