Today our special color is brown and we are serving up some brown food: chocolate chips, brown cookies, and pudding.  Mrs Vierra and I are working on nursery rhymes.  Rhyming and reciting improves literacy.  Please ask your child what he/she worked on today and practice with your child.  Please look for your first homework packet Friday, August 24th.  Scholastic book orders are due Monday August 27th.

Welcome to my new kindergarten class!  We spent the first few days learning colors and nursery rhymes.  I am really enjoying getting to know my students.  We also learned many new songs.  Feel free to post anything you would like to share on the classroom blog.  I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

This month we are learning about weather and wind. We have read a lot of books on weather and have written daily in our journals. On Tuesday, one of the kindergartners shared that the wind blows off our wigs! This is why I love teaching kindergarten!

I’m excited to share our new kindergarten website with you.  Please visit often to find out what we are doing in kindergarten and let me know any ideas you have to  improve your child’s learning experience.  One of my students won an art contest recently sponsored by United Way.  Congratulations to Jazmyn Nehm.  She drew a picture of our community and won books, prizes, and a certificate!
