a. Michael Coyne believes the most important thing when taking a picture is your attitude when taking the picture.
b. It was very interesting how Coyne was unbiased. He associated with a person who slit a mans throat murderer. I also like how when discusses photojournalism he really stresses, not altering the photo.

a. The photojournalist for this picture was Alfred Eisenstaedt
b. The name of the picture was “V-J Day, The Kiss”
c. This picture was taken in 1945
d. This image was taken in New York City
e. The image was of time square, it is black in white with a lot of people and buildings. The main subjects include a young couple making out, they seem to be really intimate.
f. This particular picture was one of thousands of Eisenstaedt’s photos. It made it in the top 10 for photojournalism. The artist behind this picture is well known for what he does. His fascinating photos displayed ” earth-shaking events and influential people of the twentieth century, from the dignity of royalty to the elegance of movie stars, from the passion of scholars to the determination of diplomats” (http://www.gallerym.com/pages/alfred-eisenstaedt-biography)
g. The artist was successful while capturing his picture. Eisenstaedt’s goal for every picture is to capture important event and significant and impacting individuals. In this case he shot a pic of a soldier who is probably coming home for the first time to his significant other. The image is quite passionate and emotional.
h. There are no professional structural features. The photo is straight forward. A general picture with a simple message.
photojournalism- portraying a story using pictures-stories must be true
-stories are told in the most fair, balanced, and unbiased way
A photograph is just a portrait that is mainly focused on defining a subject, while photojournalism is a photo with the intent of displaying a message
NPPA stands for the National Press Photographers Assosiation
The Code of Ethics are standards for photojournalism
The media needs Ethics to create a photo that make sense and strongly supports their photojournalism operation
I found this photo interesting because you don’t see it everyday. Here you have a women climbing on to a gigantic tank. She must really be against war.
What is Abstract Photography?
– form, is the shape of the image, must create an emotion of “Wow! Look at that.”
-color, must grab the viewers attention an effect his/her perceptual system, when their eyes wonder it is the color that brings the attention back
-curves, adds interest to the viewers by controlling how the viewer sees the image

For my studio project I plan on bringing in some nice shoes and showing them off. This is an example of advertisement photography which relates to a famous advertisement photographer named Riccardo Suriano.
Suriano is a commercial/ advertising photographer from Rome, Italy. Suriano begun photography at a young age when his dad felt it was time to handle a film camera. He gradually learned more and more about photography. One key element is light, light is responsible for making moods, directions, and can bring what we see and how we see it to the viewers attention.
photogram- an image made placing an object on photosensitive paper and shining light on it rather than using a camera
Photogram artist:
For my class photogram I plan on bringing in my headphones, some wires, some coins, and things that look interesting. I cant really use things that have a plan shape such as a tablet that only displays a rectangle, that’s boring. Instead I’ll bring in scissors, headphones, wires, things I can work with.
Rule of Thirds
Imagine your picture is divided into nine equal segments with 2 vertical and horizontal lines. Place the most important part of your picture on the lines or on the points created by these line segments. (some cameras will offer this function)
Balancing Elements
After using the rule of thirds find other objects to fill in the other line segment and/or points so that the picture isn’t as empty.
Leading Lines
Humans are naturally attracted to lines. Think about what lines you could use in your photo, this lines will help attract the viewers attention to the subject. Different lines create different views about the same picture. There are various types of lines, straight, curvy, zigzag, radical, etc and all can be used as a way to get the viewers attention.
Symmetry and Patterns
Include symmetry and Patterns where they are not expected. You can also make the picture interesting if you break the symmetry and pattern creating tension and a facial point
Viewpoint
Take time to think about where to shoot your picture from. Don’t always shoot from above, switch it up and shoot from above, the ground, the side, the back, a long ways away, or up close.
Background
Find a plain and unobtrusive background that doesn’t distract focus from the subject. A background that makes the subject stand out.
Depth
Photography is a two- dimensional medium so choose your composition carefully. You can create depth by including objects in the foreground, middle ground, and background. You can also overlapping or deliberately partially obscure one object with another.
Frames
Place natural frames like trees, mountains, arc ways, and holes around your subject.
Cropping
Crop tight around the subject to eliminate the background distractions (noise). This will focus the attention towards the subject.
Experimentation
Take a lot of different photos of something, try different things. Use the best photo and delete the rest. Just like when you take a selfie, you may take your selfie in a bunch of different way, then evaluate. Do the same to your object.
