The contributions of Nelson Mandela, Mao Zedong, and Cesar Chavez are all different from one person to the other. One was a mass murderer who racked up 65 million casualties, one was a Latin-American looking for nothing more than civil rights for Latinos, the last was an anti-revolutionary who wanted democracy in South Africa. Mao Zedong was a dictator to China for 25 years, collectively rounding up 65 million casualties, but also rebuilding China’s economy and welfare, he succeeded and China is now a super power, and has recovered from the massacre. Nelson Mandela was an advocate for Democracy and peace in South Africa, he was the first black man to be elected president in South Africa, driving it to a better place than a land of civil war. Cesar Chavez was a Latino American pushing for the same rights for Latin-Americans that White men have, he succeeded and had a day allocated to him, as well as many parks and attractions named after him in Colorado, New Mexico and California.
Causes:
- Human and civil rights activism, including opposition to all forms of discrimination – This interests me because it makes me realize how bad the moral codes of people that are different races are. Having to be left out due to ethnicity or gender is wrong and crude.
- Against arms proliferation; for increased gun control – This interests me in a different way than others, this is more of a curious and annoyed interest. I do not understand why people think that taking away guns is going to stop them from being used. As well as the argument that guns kill people, I have seen a gun sitting out on a porch, untamed and unclaimed, but it didn’t get up and kill anyone… And to say that guns are needed to kill people, there are strong examples against that, including the Osaka School Massacre, where 8 children died and 13 other students and teachers were fatally wounded, the weapon used… A kitchen knife, which is why I am interested, why do they act out against guns?
- Anti-War – Anti-War is another one that gives me a curious interest, why do people think that war is ever going to stop? It is part of human nature, and I want to know why they think different.
- Opposition to violence in films and on television – This interests me because I want to know why men and women think that taking away violence in media would change how the world works for the better.
- Equality for all (Communism) – I want to know how one would hope to implement a communist society like Mao Zedong, how would it benefit the place it is implemented. What are the drawbacks?

New Years Resolution
My New Years Resolution is one that many people have and can not hold up to, that being the skill of keeping my grades to A’s or B’s as the lowest. I was able to achieve this is the final term of the 2014 year, but I want to have a full year and then some of perfect grades to rival even the best of school children.
