Composition Tips – Jacob Meddings

Rule of third: Dividing the photo with horizontal and vertical lines.

Fill the frame: get in close, to make your subject a significant portion of the final photograph.

Frame within a frame: A part of a scene as subject and find a shape within the photo.

Emphasis:  Area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point.

Radial Balance: any type of balance based on a circle with its design extending from center.

Rule of odds:  images are more visually appealing when there is an odd number of subjects.

Free Choice: The Picture with the 3 apples I chose because i like the way that all 3 apples are different. It is using the rules of odds.

The picture with the umbrellas I chose because it is cool how much the red one stands out. Its using the rules of emphasis.

I chose the one with the green leaf because it interesting how different it looks so up close compared to from a distance. The rule it fallows is the fill the frame rule.
