See what’s been going on in our school garden while we’ve been apart.  We can’t wait for all of us to be back together, using our amazing new space!  With the support from the City of Rancho Cordova’s Community Enhancement Fund, a local Boy Scout Troop, and our Parent Faculty Organization, the school garden at Robert J. McGarvey Elementary continues to grow.

The garden at McGarvey was enhanced in April 2018 by Eagle Scout candidate John Williams, when he constructed the wood planter boxes, assembled our composter, and many other items .  Now, younger brother Gabe, who is also an Eagle Scout candidate, has coordinated the installation of a paved reading patio area in the garden along with a raised herb garden, and supports for a shade sail which will be completed this spring.

Our school mission is to create inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who take pride and responsibility in solving complex problems to create a more peaceful world.  School gardens, with spaces for growing and enjoying, teaching and learning, are integral to our mission.

Please stop by and check out the new pavers with the center ring for our herb garden.  Thank you John and Gabe Williams, along with our community who pitched in and helped out.
