Hot Weather Days at Stone Lake

Extreme weather days like today are days where we make changes to our daily schedule to help keep our students safe.  Here are some of the steps that we will take on extreme weather days:

  • Our morning recess occurs without change, but students are encouraged to take advantage of the shade that we have on our playground
  • Our lunch schedule changes to a 30 minute lunch.  Students spend the large majority of their time eating in the MP room, and then are released for the last 5-10 minutes to use the restroom.  There really is not a lot of time for students to overexert themselves outside during this break.  Staying in the MP room during the last few minutes of their lunch is an option too.
  • Yard supervisors, Mrs. Freeman, and myself are supervising the students on these days.  It’s all hands on deck on extreme weather days.  All yard supervisors have spray bottles and mist the students as they are picked up from their lunch break
  • PE that is scheduled later in the day is moved into the classroom or the MP room

Tomorrow looks like it will be another day where we will utilize this reduced schedule.  Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any suggestions for us on these days.
