The Prophecy of the Stones – Flavia Bujor

In a magical dominion, three teenage girls are selected to fulfill an ancient prophecy. When Jade, Opal, and Amber turn fourteen, they set out on a journey to defeat evil in a majestic land called Fairytale. In Fairytale, magic is the authority but, wherever there are living creatures, evil exists. Jade, Opal, and Amber are each armed with a magical stone. Jade has a jade, Opal has an opal, and Amber has an amber. They meet magical creatures and untrusting stangers while they cross dark towns and caressing fields. They must defeat the Army of Darkness and bring goodness beyond Fairytale into the Outside world.

At the same time in a parallel universe, a young girl named Joa is dying of a deadly disease. But, when Joa dreams, she is in Fairytale living the life with Jade, Opal, and Amber. The dream is what is keeping Joa alive, making her fight for life.

Jade, Opal, and Amber battle with the Army of Light against the Army of Darkness. There are only hundreds of Light battlers while thousands of Darkness troops fight. But, in order to win the battle and Joa’s life, they must believe in the impossible and dream of one thing: Hope.

The Truth Cookie-Fiona Dunbar

This book is about a girl whose dad is about to get married to an ex-supermodel, Varaminta le Bone. Lulu knows that something is wrong with Varaminta and her son Torquil who is very mean. When her dad is around Varaminta is like a perfect angel, but when he is gone she is very cruel. Lulu’s mom died and Lulu has a tin that has pictures in it to remember her. Torquil took the tin once, but when Lulu tells her dad the tin is back where it used to be. Torquil does other nonsense, too. Frenchy (nick name), Lulu’s friend, tries to help her. Her dad goes of to work for a month and leaves Lulu with Varaminta and Torquil. On Lulu’s birthday during that month Varaminta takes her to a salon. Lulu escapes and goes into a store. She talked to the man running the store for a while. She was about to leave when she accidentally knocked down some books. She then finds a book called The Apple Star that has a note from her mom in it. She looks at it and finds that it is a recipe book that helps you with your problems. Lulu looked for a recipe to help her with Varaminta and Torquil. She finds a recipe called the Truth Cookies. This recipe would make them tell the truth and would tell them what they were really up to. The only problem is that they can’t find the ingredients like ¾ cup camel’s butter. She asks Frenchy to help her and Frenchy agrees. Will they find these ingredients? What are Varaminta and Torquil really up to? There are so many questions to be answered. I think this book would be more for girls than boys. I hope you read this book!

The Doll People-Ann M Martin

The Doll People, by Ann M. Martin, is about the Doll family and their secret: They are alive. The Doll family is made up of seven members: Mama Doll, Papa Doll, Uncle Doll, Annabelle Doll, Bobby Doll, and Nanny. There were once eight members, when Auntie Sarah was there. But one tragic day, she disappeared. Now Annabelle is trying to locate her, along with her friend Tiffany. Together, they for SELMP. (Society of the Exploration and Location of Missing Persons.) With the help of Tiffany, Uncle Doll, and Auntie Sarah’s journal, SELMP might find Auntie Sarah. There is only one glitch. No one in the human world knows that dolls are alive. When Annabelle was first made, she had to take the Doll Code Of Honor, which was an oath that living dolls had to live by. If a human saw them moving, or thought they saw them moving, the dolls were put in Doll State. Or if they did something that really endangered the doll’s secret life, then they could wind up in Permanent Doll State, in which they became an ordinary doll forever. Does Annabelle find Auntie Sarah? Can she protect the secret life of dolls? To find out, read The Doll People.

I recommend this book for girls, because it is mostly about a girl. There is some boys, so boys may like it too.

Brisingr-Christopher Paolini

After the Battle of Burning Plains, Eragon must fulfill the oaths that he swore to many people. He must find strength from inside of him and must travel across the empire to fulfill his oaths. During his trips, Eragon will learn his family secrets. I give this book a 5 star rating because it is adventurous and action packed. This book appeals to boys and girls, age 11 years or older. This book is the third in the series, and would not make sense to anyone who hasn’t read the first two books, Eragon and Eldest. This book has lots of pages, a complex vocabulary and some inappropriate language. I hope you have a chance to read this book and comment about it.

Ralph S. Mouse by Beverly Cearly

Ralph is an adorable, talking, motorcycle-riding mouse. He lives under a clock in a hotel with his mortal friend, Ryan. Ryan lives with his family in their room, but talks to Ralph a lot. Every night, Ralph would take out his motorcycle and ride laps across the shiny floors of the hotel. However, his nosy relatives living in other little hide-outs in the hotel all want to ride it too. Ralph gets selfish and refuses to share. He decides he should move out not only because of the relatives, but also because Ralph’s other friend, the hotel’s janitor, is being punished because the floor is dirty thanks to Ralph’s motocycle tracks. So, he decided to go with Ryan one day to school. Ralph decided to live there; he’d see Ryan during school hours, sleep, wake up, and then see Ryan in the morning again. Simple, right? Not when the class finds out that Ryan has a pet mouse. They decide to honor Ralph by having a “Mouse Day”. All of the children do a mouse-related-project. Such as writing poems about mice, drawing pictures of them, or another creative form of art.  Ryan and the bully, Brad, were paired up together and were assigned to make a real, 3-D maze for Ralph to try to do. Ralph is very nervous. Then when Brad and Ryan get into a physical fight, Ralph’s motorcycle that was in Ryan’s pocket got smashed! This was Ralph’s most prized pocession, and now it’s gone. He is extremely angry at Ryan.

Will Ryan still be friends with Ralph? Will Ralph make a fool of himself in the maze? Will Ralph ever be able to ride his motorcycle again? Read it to find out!
