She came to America at the age of 8.She graduated from Tuffts univirsty and then married a man named Winston Lord. Her first book was Spring Moon. She wrote it in 1981.

Then her father shows her her room and her house. After Shirley’s dad wants to get cigaretts but shirley wants to impress her dad by getting them for him. When she is getting the cigretts Shriley gets lost and then her dad finds her.

At lunch shirley becomes friends with Emiley. After Shirley babysitts boys named Sean, Stephen, and Seamore and she wathces the world series.

During the last section of the book, Shirley is in a Thanksgiving play with her class. After that Emiley finds out that she got voted to present a key to somebody. When her class finds out Jackie Robinson is coming everybodythinks that Shirley should present the key instead. Before Shirey has to present the key to Jackie Robinson Shirley’s parents tell her that she is going to have a sisster or brother. At the end Shirley gets to meet Jackie Robinson and present a key to him.
