This book is about a young boy named Tom. Tom’s grandfather had a heart attack, but he recovered. Still, they had him take a bunch of tests and surgery. Since Tom’s grandfather was having trouble, Tom had to help the dogs in the pound since his grandfather owned one. Then one day Tom and his family went on a vacation to Six Flags. At Six Flags Tom met a girl named Angie. Tom and Angie became friends. They became such good friends that they stayed at Six Flags for only a couple of days, and then went to Water World together. When Tom and his family were getting ready to leave, Angie kissed Tom on the lips. Tom was actually fine with it and they started to e-mail each other. When Tom was back at the pound, he saw a very cute puppy named Tad. Tad and Tom started to be really good friends, but one day Tom’s grandfather said that a guy would come and pick up a dog in a couple of days. Tom was very surprised because he did not want Tad to go away. The customer always gets the (Pick of the Litter.) If you want to find out if Tom and Tad will be separated or if Tom will ever meet Angie again, read this OUTSTANDING book, Pick of the Litter. I think this book will appeal to more girls than boys because this book is about puppies, but I am a boy and I enjoyed it. I liked this book because I love puppies and if you love puppies, this is the book for you. I feel like the author, Bill Wallace, is a very powerful author and uses his words in a way that is powerful. Bill Wallace also wrote very famous book titled No Dogs Allowed, Goosed, and Red Dog. Bill Wallace is a winner of a 20 state awards, including the Texas Bluebonnet Award. He also won many other rewards. I liked this book and I hope you will too.
