This book is a book full of fears and judge-mental sisters. I’d like to recommend this book to both boys and girls. Even though the story mainly talks about Violet Jackstone, a girl, Violet’s anxiety and feelings of longing to belong somewhere can be felt by both girls and boys. Violet Jackstone was born as a triplet, but over the years, she found out that she looked nothing like them. Her two other sister, Rose and Jasmine, looked exactly the same, like twins, while I was and outsider. They spent more time with each other (excluding Violet from every activity they did) and they even have this twin mind-reading-communication-thing going on. Truth is, Violet has a terrible fear of earthquakes and lately California had been accompanied by some. Every time an earthquake occurs, Violet has a vision of flames and three children. Everyone managed to escape the fire, but the little girl who was screaming. Her parents, Lily and Greg, are florists and they just bought a third flower shop on Chance Street in San Francisco. While Violet was cleaning, she finds an old letter and the first words written were, My beloved Baby V… Didn’t her parents call her that? Then, whenever an earthquake occurs, a different letter appears. After reading these so-called “love letters” and diary entries, Violet thinks these letter were meant for her, they were somehow warning her of something. One of the diary entries said that a person was feeling guilty of something, the death of V. Violet then figures that this was a warning that she was going to die. She has a weak heart just like this V person does. Her sisters and her two best friends, Beth and Sam, help her with all these mysteries leading from one clue to another. But as soon as November 1st comes, Violet knows they’re running out of time. There was going to be a very big earthquake coming that could possibly kill everyone in San Fran., and she could feel it. Her friends and sisters, not even her parents, believe her anymore; they just think she’s paranoid. Is Violet really crazy? How much time do they have left before everyone dies of the earthquake? Will there really be a big earthquake? Read this fascinating fantasy and all these questions will be answered. Enjoy!
