The Wedding Planner's Daughter-Coleen Murtagh Paratore

Willa Havisham is a twelve year old girl who reads classics, eats yummy cherry-cordials, and she is also quite possibly the world’s worst wisher ever. But when she and her glamorous single mother, Stella, move to Cape Cod, Willa’s wishes are beginning to come true! Stella is falling for Willa’s English teacher, Sam! How wonderful is that? Sam seems like perfect dad material. But before Willa can have Sam as a new step-dad, be with her adorable crush Joseph, or finally make her first best friend ever, horrible things happen. You see, Willa always adds another secret into Stella’s planned weddings. But when that secret destroys one of Stella’s weddings, Stella decides to move away again, and also break up with Sam. Can Willa undo the damage before Stella misses her chance to say “I do”? Find out as you read this book by Coleen Murtagh Paratore with humor, hope, and a lot of love. This book is definitely more for girls than boys and I really recommend it. Believe it or not, I actually cried at the ending. I never thought that I would cry at a book like this. I absolutely loved this story!

  1. Well I also read this book and thought that it was really good. One thing that wasn’t said was that Willa spent alot of time with her grandma. This story was one of my all time favorites so if you are a girl and like realistic fiction this book should be the first on you list. I would also reccomend it to more boys than girls. I hope you find out how it ends because you have to read this fantastic book. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this book a 9.

  2. I also read this story. I do not agree with Saliha and Emily because I thought this was a total girl book. I am like Emily and I cried at the end too. This is a very touching book and is good for fith and sixth grade girls. I have read this book three times and it is one of my favorites.

  3. I read this story too. I agree that is a total girl book too unlike Saliha and I’m loving the sequals. I think that Emily could include that they were going to Maine even though it is a little detail. Also, Emily might of gone into a little more detail about Tina and Ruby, Willa’s friends but, overall I had an unforgettable experience reading.

  4. I read this book, too. Unlike Saliha, I agree that this is a total girl book. It deals with boys and weddings. I thought this book was pretty creative because it has quotes from different books in the beginning of the chapter. For examle, there was quotes from Matilda, Anne of Green Gables, and many more. The quote has to deal with the chapter. I did not cry, however I thought it was VERY funny. It is a fast read and I highly recomend it.
