The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn – Mark Twain

Huckleberry Finn hates a perfect life. He is forced to live with Widow Douglas which he calls “widow.” He goes to school, attends church, plays peacefully, and wears proper clothes. He gets used to his life even though he misses some of his freedom. When he gets used to all the rules, his drunk, missing, and cruel father appears and takes him away to an unknown forest. His father locks him up in a cabin and there is absolutely no way out. He finds an axe and he chops a hole big enough for him to squeeze out. He uses a canoe to escape down a river and travels to an island. He lives there for a week and finds Jim, a runaway slave. They travel together and they cross many cities. They meet new people such as Mr. Lothrop, Peter Wilks, and Mary Jane. Huckleberry Fin and Jim struggle for food and survival while they try to manage their friendship. Not only that, they have to survive murderers, robbers, and dangerous people who have no reason to kill…

I really liked this book! It was really long but, it only took me 4 days to read. It was spectacular!

  1. Well, it sure looks like you got to the basics of the book… and you say you liked the book even though it was long! I don’t know, for me, I was put off by the length of the book at first. Then, I got around to looking online for some more information on why this is considered one of the GREAT American novels and I came across this really cool site on Huckleberry Finn – Shmoop. Check it out. It really helped me understand why the book is so important and how to read it.
