The People of Sparks – Jeanne DuPrau

In this book Lina and Doon gave the people of Ember the message on how to get out of the city. Soon everyone had arrived out of the city. This is when everyone set out to find a town and came across the village of Sparks. Now the people of Sparks don’t like the Emberites that much but finally agree to take them in for six months. Most of the people of Ember are allowed to stay at the run down Pioneer Hotel. At first everything went fine, besides the hot weather of course. Most people disliked the people of Ember though. Soon arguing broke out and then Doon was accused of throwing tomatoes at a building. From this point on the people of Ember are treated unfair. They have smaller meals, forced to work harder, and are accused for stuff they didn’t do. Later someone writes muddy words on the village plaza and then someone wrote the words “GO BACK TO YOUR CAVE” with burnt wood on the side of the hotel. A boy named Tick wanted to have war with the people of Sparks. Apparently the people of Sparks have a secret weapon. This book would appeal to boys and girls that enjoy reading about adventure books. To find out what happens read the book The People of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau.

  1. I really liked this book. I liked how you put this blog in words. I would not have changed any of it. I really didn’t think that in the book that the would go to war. It got me very upset when Doon got accused for wasting the food. It wasn’t his fault and I think that the boy who did do it should have either told the truth or picked someome else. For anyone who likes these book should read the Prophet of Yonwood and Diamonds of the Dark at least thats what I think its called. I really think this is a good blog.

  2. When I read the story The People of Sparks I was surprized that the Emberites and people of Sparks did not get along. The people of Ember besieve that the people of Sparks gave them to much work to do but didn’t give them enough food. People from Sparks thought that if they gave away most of there food they would not have enough for them or there families. On a scale from one to ten with ten bein the best, I would give it a seven because there was not much action or adventure. I did like the book for the discoveries that they found.
