At the beginning of this book Soren is in his nest with his family waiting for his little sister to hatch. Soren by the way is a Barn Owl. Soren’s parents call Soren’s new sister Eglantine. A few nights later Soren fell from his nest but doesn’t know how. Soren can’t fly yet so he decides to wait for his mom and dad. But instead of his mom and dad picking him up, a strange owl swoops in and takes him to St. Aggies Academy for “Orphaned” Owls. Along the way Soren meets an Elf Owl named Gylfie who is captured by an owl named Grimble. Right from the start Soren and Gylfie hate St. Aggies every single second. They soon find out about moon blinking and what it does. Grimble helps Soren and Gylfie escape St. Aggies. Soren and Gylfie heard a shriek from behind and the night was splattered with blood. After their escape Soren and Gylfie meet Twilight a Great Gray and Digger a Burrowing Owl. To find out what moon blinking is and what happened to Grimble.
