Becoming Naomi Leon-Pam Munoz Ryan

Becoming Naomi Leon is about a girl named Naomi who lives with her little brother, Owen, and her great-grandmother, Mary Outlaw, in a trailer park in Lemon Tree, California  When Naomi and Owen where little, they lived with their father and mother in Mexico. One supposedly “normal” night, when the Outlaws were eating dinner, Naomi and Owen’s long-lost mother barges in and demands to be allowed to see her children. Owen and Naomi are shocked to see her, but excited all the same, because they don’t remember her from when they were little. But something is wrong with their mother. She changed her name from Terry-Lynn to Skyla Jones, and she has been in and out of rehab hospitals and halfway houses for years. Rehab hospitals are hospitals for “special” people… it’s kind of like recieving therapy for problems your facing, like drugs, alcohol, and sudden mood changes, and halfway houses are places where people recovering from drugs, alcohol, and sudden mood changes go, to continue leading a normal life. Do Naomi and Owen learn to love their mother again? Where did their father go? Will they ever live a normal life again? To find out, read Becoming Naomi Leon.
