No Dogs Allowed – Bill Wallace

This book is about a young girl named Kristine. Kristine was just suffering the tragedy of loosing her horse, Dandy. Kristine was very sad because they were very good friends. They would always talk with each other under a tree. Kristine has a little sister and another little baby is on the way. Kristine thought that everybody would forget about her birthday because of the baby. When Kristine and her mother went to her favorite place to eat, she found out that her family and friends had planned a birthday party for her. She was so surprised because she thought that everybody would forget it because of the baby. When it was time to open presents she opened her fathers present. The present was moving a lot. Kristine opened the present and found out that the present was A PUPPY!!! Kristine first yelled,”WHAT!!” She yelled this because she did not want another pet. Kristine did not want to love another pet because she did not want to face another horrible tragedy. Everybody was surprised. After that she acted like she was happy, but right in the middle of the opening the presents Kristine’s dad whispered into her ear that,”Kristine, your mother is having a baby.” Then Kristine just wanted to forget about the birthday and help her mother, but her dad stopped that. Do you think Kristine will just give the puppy away or keep it and love it? Do you think that Kristine’s mother will be fine after the delivery of the baby? If you want to find out, read this OUTSTANDING book,”No Dogs Allowed.” I think this book will appeal to girls more than boys, but I am a boy and I enjoyed it. I also think this book does not have hard vocabulary. I think this book is a 4 1/2 star on a 5 star scale. This book is only 214 pages long and it will be fun to read. If you like dogs, babies and the farm life, I think you will enjoy it. The author, Bill Wallace, I think, is a very POWERFUL writer. Bill Wallace is a two-time winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award and the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Oklahoma Center for this book. I hope that some boys will come out and have an open mind about reading this book, I know I did. I loved this book and I hope you will read it.

  1. I think you did a great job reviewing the book. It sounds quite emotional, I haven’t read the book but I will look out for it.

  2. I am considering getting a dog in the very near future. My neighbor has an Irish Terrier and he’s so cute. I hope I can afford to get one.
