Tree-ear, an orphan, lived with his friend, Crane-man in a small hut in Korea. Every day, Tree-ear watched master potter, Min, work. Tree-ear dreamed of making pottery like Min. One day, Tree-ear asked Min if he could work for Min. Min said yes.

For about a year, Tree-ear worked for Min. The royal palace asked Min if he could bring some of his pottery to the palace. Min said he was too old to go and Tree-ear offered to go. In late summer, Min finished making the pottery and Tree-ear took the pottery to the palace. Less than half way there to the palace, Tree-ear climbed a big cliff. He met a robber!
