Pinky Pye is the sequel to Ginger Pye so, if you haven’t read it yet, it’s still okay. Pinky Pye is about Rachel, Jerry, Pinky, Ginger, Gracie, Uncle Bennie, and Mr. and Mrs. Pye. Pinky and Gracie are cats, Ginger is a dog, and everybody else is people. It starts out with the Pyes going to Fire Island because Mr. Pye has to discover a bird there. Mr. Pye is an ornithologist which means somebody who studies birds. Their cabin was built by a lady and that lady told them that she forgot to close a window in the eaves. When they first got there, the doorbell rang and there was a black kitten that had a collar that said, “A abandoned.” They kept the kitten and named it Pinky because of its pink tongue. Later on, a big wind came and it was so big that the next day, the papers said a baby owl got blown away by it. The Pyes then herd a big thump in the eaves and knew it was the window they forgot to close, so they closed it. The next day, Uncle Bennie (three years old) wants a pet so he went out looking for grasshoppers. He finds one and puts it in the eaves so that the cats don’t get it but, the next morning they were gone and happened again and again. Meanwhile, Gracie is up on the roof staring at something in the eaves. What is in the eaves? You’ll have to read the book to find out. (I forgot to mention that Pinky is a typewriting cat) I think this book is good for both boys and girls. I highly recommend it for patient people because in the beginning, nothing really happens. However, in the end, it was very interesting. If you want to find out what is in the eaves, read Pinky Pye.
