Bugs and Insects in Our Food
I had an opportunity to try bugs with my classmates, I tried the Bacon-Cheese cricket and the Mexican-Spice Larvet. Food Businesses and Restaurants are adding insects and bugs into our food diets. Insects require much less work and resources than other animals. They are nutritious and sustainable. To begin with, the insects that restaurants are putting in the food are actually healthy. In fact, insects are good for you because they are filled with proteins, vitamins, fiber, and minerals. Another example is that Jarrod Goldin says that “the only protein source that can save the planet.” Therefore, there is more than 100 million crickets and 25 million mealworms at farms in North America. Finally people from Europe and North America say that there tasty. More than 2 billion people eat and enjoy insects. They get their flavor by having them toasted or dry-roasted. All in all, bugs and insects are starting to be put into people’s food, and will be the future’s snacks.
