Elk Grove Unified to Start 20-21 School Year with Full Distance Learning

“Based on our collaboration with and updated information from public health officials, and with ongoing support and feedback from our Board of Education and labor partners, we will start our school year in August with our improved Full Distance Learning model,” affirmed Christopher R. Hoffman, Superintendent of Schools.

“Thanks to our community and their valued feedback, we have developed a flexible plan that enables us to respond and adapt effectively to changing health conditions. Based on recent challenges in testing, the inability to receive timely results and the significant rise in confirmed cases, current health conditions warrant a shift back to our Full Distance Learning model. The goal for the entire Elk Grove Unified community is a safe and full return to school when health conditions allow.”

2020-2021 Jag Institute After-School Program (Apply today!)

Hello Jackson Families,

We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. There is still much uncertainty for the 2020/2021 school year, and at this point, we are really unsure what school will look like when we start. This year we are changing the name of the afterschool program from SAIL to Jag Institute with a focus on academics and technology.  We would like to give you the opportunity to get on the waitlist for the 20/21 Jag Institute After-School Program. We are still unsure of how many students we will be able to enroll and submitting the application does not guarantee a spot in our program.  When we are able to return to school we will hold our mandatory parent meeting.

The online application is linked below and will be on the Isabelle Jackson website. For students who were previously enrolled in Jag Institute (SAIL), a new application is still required every year.

More information will be provided as it becomes available to us. We can’t wait until we are able to safely come together again. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Information From Isabelle Jackson

Dear Isabelle Jackson Families,

We hope you are staying safe and healthy during these trying times.  I wanted to update you on the information we know at this time, but with the rapidly changing pace of events, understand that this can change as well. Please continue to check the district website for the most up-to-date information, as well as your e-mails.   We are currently following the Sacramento County Office of Education’s guidelines that recommended the closing of schools and canceling all activities.

As always, the health and welfare of our students, staff, and families remain a high-priority.  To continue to help meet the nutritional needs of our families, our Food and Nutrition Services Department will be providing lunches and breakfasts to those who desire one.  They are distributing lunches (and breakfasts for the next day) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  They will distribute meals in a drive-thru manner to anyone with a school-age child. Pull up or walk up to the front of the Multi-Purpose room and they will give you meals for each child.  Children must be present to receive a meal.  The meals are to be taken home, as they cannot be eaten at school to avoid the congregation of groups.

Education is still our business and now we need your support more than ever. Several families have reached out asking what their students can do at home.  EGUSD Student Support Services is developing resources to help support all of our families and information from them will be coming out soon.  Right now, we have several resources on the EGUSD Portal and links to educational web-based programs on our school website. Your child can log-in to these websites at home the same way they log-in at school.  Though these are not a substitute for their teachers’ instruction, it will help keep your child engaged and learning while we work together through this unprecedented health emergency.  In addition, some teachers may be sending their students and families specific information regarding learning activities.  Please support them in continuing to educate your child by having them complete any activities their teacher recommends.

Many students have medication stored in the office.  If you need to pick them up, please e-mail the school secretary, Jenn Calton, at jcalton@egusd.net to arrange a time to pick them up.  The office will be closed until March 19th. You can arrange to pick up medications at that time.

Finally, please stay safe.  Isabelle Jackson is an amazing community and we want everyone to remain healthy.  Follow the directions of the Sacramento County Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control.  Also, if you can, take this opportunity to do things you have not had a chance to get done.  According to my wife, the things I want to get done all involve house maintenance and cleaning.  So let your children know they are not the only ones having to do chores around the house right now.  I am looking forward to when we can be together again at the greatest school in the whole wide world…ISABELLE JACKSON! #WeAreJackson

Thank you,

Scott Hadley, Principal
