Dear families,

I would like to welcome all students and families to the 2019-2020 school year! To those of you who are new to our school, I extend you a warm welcome and our best wishes for an exciting and productive year.  Our staff is committed to working with students and their families to provide a learning environment to meet the needs of each child.  We want our students to enjoy coming to school each day. We strive to foster in each child a love of learning and to teach them the skills to be lifelong learners.

We have many additional instructional programs that we are proud to offer our students. Each grade level has an instruction time each day called WIN (What I Need). Students have a time each day for specialized instruction to meet their individual needs. Accelerated Reading (AR) is an incentive program to encourage students to read self-selected literature at their reading level.  Please see your child’s teacher if you have any questions about these programs.

The learning doesn’t end within our instructional day. We have many exciting and engaging before and after school programs including: Hawk Academy, team sports, band, Mathletes, GATE, National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) , and intervention programs to give students additional learning experiences.  We hope that your child(ren) will participate in many of these before and after school programs.

In conjunction with our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization), we have several annual events to bring our entire community together. We hope that you will join us for our annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser that will take place in the fall.  We have two fun evening events for families which are Grandparents’ Bingo Night in December and Valentine Family Fun Night in February.  In February and March, students participate in our annul Read-A-Thon.  Our annual Spring Carnival takes place in April.  We close the year with our Muffins for Mom, Donuts for Dad, and Five Star Family celebrations to  honor our parents and families.  We hope that you will attend many of our community events.

Most sincerely,

Lynne C. Mayer
