Taken on July 15, 2013, this photograph shows Vadim Mikhailov, who founded a movement of subterranean explorers that Russia has come to know as “Diggers”. Here, he walks by torchlight in the Neglinka tunnels. These tunnels were built underneath Moscow in the 1700s under the reign of Catherine the Great after she demanded that the Neglinka river be moved beneath the city.
